Back in July 2018, RAD’s Board appointed its three Executive Directors as interim Co-Chief Executives. Following the success of this arrangement the Board is delighted to announce that it has agreed to confirm this joint leadership arrangement on a permanent basis.
Since it was established in 1841, RAD has remained a leader in the provision of services to Deaf people. Celebrating Deaf culture, language, identity, community, heritage and diversity is an essential part of what we do.
Joint leadership has been a bold and innovative venture for our organisation. The decision to continue with and build on the successes we have seen from our executive leadership team is a testament to RAD’s ongoing legacy – to be adaptable leaders of innovation, empowerment and opportunity.
Toby Burton, Chair of the Board of Trustees said, ‘The Board is grateful to the three Directors for stepping up and sharing the responsibilities of the CEO role between them. This arrangement is working well and RAD has been making good progress against its strategic objectives since the three Directors took on the Co-CEO role. The Board are delighted that the Directors have agreed to continue with this arrangement. The Board feels that confirming this arrangement provides stability and continuity for RAD. We look forward to continuing to work with the Joint CEOs to deliver RAD’s strategic objectives’.
RAD’s Joint Chief Executives, Amanda Casson-Webb, Lesley Frearson and Sue Mountford will maintain their substantive Executive Director responsibilities whilst they take on, jointly, the CEO role. They are excited about leading one of the UK’s most well respected and forward thinking Deaf organisations into a new and exciting phase.
