Joint Chief Executive |Director of Communications and Community
Amanda is a qualified BSL/English Interpreter and, as the Child of Deaf Adults (CODA), a native user of British Sign Language. In her role at RAD, Amanda is responsible for the leadership and direction of Communication Services (RAD Interpreting), Community Development and PR & Marketing.
Passionate about ensuring that RAD delivers high quality services that are responsive to the needs of Deaf people, Amanda is also committed to ensuring that the organisation remains an ethical and supportive employer of Communication Professionals – and that, together with Deaf people RAD is able to create a better, more accessible future. Amanda is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA).

Lesley joined RAD in 2000 and is a qualified accountant (FCCA). She works at a strategic level as part of the Executive team to ensure that RAD’s vision is fundamental to all that the organisation does.
In her role, she is responsible for the leadership and direction of the support functions of the organisation; Finance, Human Resources, IT, Quality and Administration and ensuring that these functions are able to adapt to meet the changing needs of the organisation.
Lesley has worked in the not for profit sector for 18 years.

Sue joined RAD in 2005, she works with the Executive Team to ensure RAD’s vision is at the heart of the organisation. She operates at strategic and operational level and is committed to the organisation’s four key aims; to deliver services that Deaf people want, supporting mainstream providers to be accessible, ensuring financial sustainability and to be an exemplary employer. Sue works with RAD’s partners, commissioners and other key stakeholders to ensure that RAD is well placed to continue delivering services that Deaf people want and need. She has a BSL level 2 (and pre-level 3) and responsibility for a team of 80 staff.
Community Development Manager
Russell is a native Deaf Londoner and joined RAD in October 2013. He is responsible for maintaining the link between RAD and the wider Deaf community within RAD’s heartlands (also further afield too as and when needed). Russell works with and supports the Deaf community and strengthens relationships wherever possible, making sure that the Deaf clubs and their members are happy, independent and supporting them when needed with a wide range of issues and delivering training opportunities as well.
Russell also delivers Deaf Awareness courses all across the UK, has been a registered Registered Sign Language Interpreter since 2013.
Strategic Development Manager
Linda’s role focuses on securing new and ongoing funding for RAD’s work. This includes developing projects and services, often in partnership with internal and external stakeholders, and presenting these to a variety of funders: national and local government, lottery and other grant-makers. During the past 10 years she has helped RAD transform many of its funding and delivery models to adapt to new challenges and opportunities. Her team’s functions also include data capture and monitoring/reporting.
A strong advocate for equality, Linda has previously worked for charities in the family, education and Special Educational Needs sectors.

Operations Manager – Services Directorate
Julie, a Child of Deaf Adults (CODA), joined RAD in 2008 and naturally is passionate about accessible services.
Julie is responsible for the day to day operational management of the Services Directorate and staff teams, ensuring delivery of commissioned contracts which provide local/varied opportunities, and procuring funds. Committed to the provision of good quality support for Deaf people, she works closely with the Director to achieve growth by identifying need, developing innovative service strands whilst maintaining partner relations.

Operations Manager – Community Support Service
Matt leads the Community Support Service, developing new ways of working and delivering services for deaf people with additional needs within the community to maintain their independence and learn new skills.
Matt has worked in the third sector for 15 years managing services ranging from homeless prevention, supporting people with learning difficulties and registered care services.

Claire Woods FCCA
Claire joined RAD in 2009 and is a qualified accountant (FCCA). She is responsible for overseeing the day to day running of the finance department of both RAD and it’s outsourced clients whilst also working closely with the managers and directors to ensure that their financial and budgeting requirements are met.
Prior to working at RAD, Claire has worked in accountancy practice for 22 years, which included the audit and accounts of not for profit organisations.

Business Support Manager
Nikki joined RAD in November 2007 from a management and training background in social care; with an expertise for provision of person-centred services and accessible communication.
In her role as Business Support Manager, Nikki manages the day-to-day operations of RAD’s offices, facilities and business support services. Nikki is passionate about RAD and providing a first class service to both internal and external customers. Nikki’s diverse role continues to keep her in daily contact with the Deaf community and acts as a central point of contact and support for all of RAD’s services and business functions.
